| So how is everyone doing? Anyone else looking for one of those huge inflatable grinches to put in front of your husbands office? :o) Kettles are going well, Angel Tree seems to be going well...all the kids are fairly healthy...what is there to be grinchy about? I will be glad to see Christmas Eve come around...then we rest! God bless each of you as you toil away, try to find joy in everything that you do...if nothing else, laugh at the ridiculous things that come our way! Tammy | | |
| I love Fall. It is my favorite season. I love it when the leaves start to change color and there is a crisp coolness to the air. I get to drag out my sweaters and air them out....I actually get the urge to put a wreath on my door. I am one of those SA Officers who loves the Holidays. I love the personal contact with people who are facing a difficult Christmas. My favorite challenge is finding the family that is unaware that anyone is paying attention to their difficult situation, and blessing them. God is so good to us, and He is blessing the Clovis Corps in a mighty way. I pray God's blessings on each of you today. Tammy | | |
| Yesterday, I was given an incredible gift...and entire day on my own, just me and the dogs. I had lots of hours just to reflect on the past few months. It all started with our trip to Greece and Turkey to walk in the footprints of Paul. It was an amazing experience, and one that needs to be absorbed over time. I still can't believe that I was there. Two weeks after we came home, we were off to Officers Councils. The evening that we returned from officers councils, we were blessed with a tornado slamming through our community, with amazing amounts of damage and two fatalities. We worked like crazy people for a couple of weeks, and snuck away to Omaha to be at my in-laws 50th anniversary for a couple of days, only to come home to more tornado recovery work. Then it was Woman's Ministries camp, then school let out, then vacation - two weeks to North Carolina. Then we took our son and nephew to camp for the summer, Kevin headed to Brengle and I staffed SAY camp. We have gone back and forth to camp a couple of times (a 9 hour drive one way), and then off to family camp in Phoenix (a 12 hour drive one way). We just got back from SAnta Fe for a Homeland Security Donations Management training, and now Kevin is back in Arizona to pick up our boys from camp and be at a court date for one of the camp staffers, who got arrested after an altercation at camp. I feel like we have really not been home much. I have decided that Christmas will be a breeze in comparison. I really haven't had a lot of opportunity to write an update, and I haven't had much opportunity to even check on Xanga much. For those of you working with the recovery effort in Minesota, know that we have been praying for all of you. Those of you who have been through so much this summer, God's blessing to each of you. School starts next Wednesday here in New Mexico, I think that our entire family will be relieved for the return to some semblance of normal. Take care everyone!! | | |
| Can you believe this crazy weather that we have been having. About a month ago, we had a tornado come through Clovis. Clovis has never had a tornado come through town. Several have touched down around us, but never through populated areas. We had over 500 homes and businesses damaged or destroyed and two fatalities. Really, it was a miracle that there were only two fatalities, as people are very complacent about disaster preparation. None of the Army properties were damaged, but it really was a scary time. We have just begun the storm season, and we have been warned by the National Weather Service to expect an extremely active season. Yeehaw. Moves come out in our Territory on Friday. It is always amazing to me how move week has everyone in a tizzy. I think that it is an amazing phenomenon that is totally man-made. Although, not just exlusively Army, we have Methodist pastor friends that found out that they were moving this past week. Oh, well, it is the waiting that kills us. Well, everyone who knows they are moving...peace be in your home as you go through the transition....and for those who don't know if you are moving yet...the same peace to you and your family. God bless, everyone! | | |
| On March 23rd, Clovis was blessed with several tornados in our area. We had several homes destroyed and one 91 year old lady was killed. We have been very busy in disaster mode. When it rains, it pours....literally! Trust every one is doing well. Happy Easter! | | |
